Financial Controller

 

Edward Mann are recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing SME technology business based in Central London. Due to continued growth our client is now looking to recruit a Financial Controller.

 

You will become a key part of the team, delivering and improving end-to-end financial processes, as well as supporting the wider business and being involved in numerous ad-hoc projects. There’ll be variety, complexity, and a lot of problem solving. We’re looking for someone with experience, but also eager to learn, and who knows they’re most effective while working as part of a high performing team.

OVERVIEW:

 

Taking ownership for the finance department and reporting into the Finance Director, responsibilities include end-to-end accounting – Month end and year-end close, ensuring accurate revenue accounting, balance sheet reconciliations and cash reconciliations for both the UK and Spanish companies

 

Business reporting:

  • Management accounts:
    • Timely production of relevant financial information, including Group consolidation, P&L, Cash Flow and Balance analysis
    •  Timely production of non-financial reporting, including analysis of variances, KPIs, risks and trends
  • Owning monthly MRR (“Monthly Recurring Revenue”) reconciliation
  • Working with stakeholders across business to agree KPIs, targets and reporting
  • Owning weekly reporting across the business

     

    Managing the company’s cash position:

  • Owning accounts payable ensuring timely payments to our suppliers
  • Owning accounts receivable ensuring timely receipts
  • Managing foreign currency balances
  • Updating the forecast accordingly

     

    Own the budgeting and forecasting process:

     

  • Preparation and presentation of budgets as required by the Board
  • Managing a rolling forecast process
  • Monitoring actual performance against the budgeted and forecast figures.

     

    Financial control & business support:

  • Preparation of the annual statutory accounts, working with external parties as relevant
  • Driving the R&D tax rebate process, managing internal delivery and external advisors
  • Owning payroll, Tax and VAT, working closely with external specialists
  • Delivering financial and non-financial support and analysis across other departments
  • Supporting the sales team with bookings approvals and calculating commission
  • Supporting marketing team with spend and adhoc analysis
  • Supporting customer team by managing the subscription billing system, ensuring timely invoicing

     

     

    CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Qualified accountant (although those not studying towards a qualification or qualified but with relevant experience will also be considered)
  • Previous experience in a technology business would be an advantage,
  • Excellent working knowledge of accounting, monthly close process and account reconciliation
  • Strong data manipulation, modelling and analytical skills
  • Ability to be attentive to detail while demonstrating understanding of the “big picture”
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders and working as part of a senior team
  • Experience with multiple systems, financial and non-financial
  • Ability to plan and manage resources against defined business priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and used to working with people at all levels, both internal & external
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken form
  • Ability to work on their own initiative with light management
  • Strong excel skills
